Q: My company uses a proxy server, and I am not able to try the time-based license, the application says that the license is invalid.

A:
The licensing system has some issues with proxy servers. To test the time-trial Simplygon, temporarily open up a direct connection to "donya.se", port 80 (standard HTTP port) on the proxy server. This is only an issue with the trial license, the commercial license does not need an internet connection.
Q
: How do I install the 3DStudio Max plug-in?

A: It is described in the 3DStudio Max plug-in documentation:
http://www.donyalabs.com/SimplygonMaxPluginUsersGuide.asp

Q: On what platforms is Simplygon available?

A: Simplygon is readily available on Windows, but server-solutions for Linux and Mac OSX builds can be created on-demand.

Q: Does the Simplygon Lightspeed integration have any known issues?

A: These are the currently known limitations, and other issues we have observed with the Lightspeed integration:
  • Running the Scene Graph Optimization plug-in may introduce extra nodes causing manual switching between levels of detail to fail.
  • Enabling Weld hardware skin partitions in the Scene Graph Optimization plug-in may cause certain vertices to be transformed incorrectly.
Also, running the MeshFinalize plug-in on some meshes (regardless if Simplygon is used or not) cause the texture coordinates of the mesh to become invalid. This is however not a Simplygon issue.

Q
: Windows is complaining about "side-by-side configuration", what should I do?

A: This means that a needed component is missing. In most cases it is the Visual Studio Runtime, which is a Microsoft created component. The installer for this component is included in the "vcredist_x86/64" directory where the SFX file was extracted.
